There’s a question Elements Music & Arts Festival wants every attendee to sit with before they ever set foot on the grounds in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, this August: which element are you?

It’s not just a cute bit of branding. For the seasons I’ve covered this festival, the “Meet the Elements” concept has always felt like the actual architecture of the weekend — not a theme slapped over a lineup, but the thing the lineup gets built around. Four stages, four identities, four completely different ways to spend a night in the woods. Fire, Earth, Air, and Water aren’t just names on a set schedule — they’re moods you choose, or maybe moods that choose you.

Fire

is the one people picture first when they think “festival stage” — all-out, high-voltage, the kind of set that has a crowd moving before the drop even lands. If you’re the person who needs your chest rattling by 11 PM, Fire is home.

Earth

goes the other direction — deep, strange, a little psychedelic. Think neon-lit forest paths, oversized mushroom sculptures, jellyfish floating overhead like the whole clearing decided to become an underwater dream. It’s bass-heavy and world-music-curious, built for people who want to get delightfully lost.

Air

is the melodic counterpoint — tucked further into the trees, more meditative, the place you go when you want the music to feel like it’s holding you rather than hitting you.

Water

is the sunshine-and-mischief stage — playful, buoyant, the daytime hangout that turns into a dance floor without anyone quite noticing the shift.

What’s New For 2026

The festival isn’t just describing these four worlds — they’re asking 3-day passholders to find out, for themselves, which one they actually belong to. An eight-question quiz, sent straight to the email used at ticket purchase, sorts you into Fire, Earth, Air, or Water — no guessing, no spoilers, just eight quick questions about your personality and your festival energy. I’m not going to tell you what I think your Element is — that’s kind of the fun of it. Three summers into shooting this festival, I’ve watched people walk into their assigned stage and go, “oh, yeah, that’s exactly me,” in a way I can’t really explain secondhand. It’s the kind of thing you have to answer for yourself.
