Harrison, OH – On this particular Thursday night, New Jersey’s Trixter brought a hefty dose nostalgic rock (with a flash of glam) to quiet Harrison, just west of Cincinnati.

Formed New Jersey in 1983, Trixter is touring with two of its early band members, founding member Steve Brown (guitar, vocals) and P. J. Farley (bass, vocals), along with Ben Hans (drums), who joined the band in 2021.

Trixter’s fan base blossomed in the 1990s with hits like “Give It To Me Good” and “One In A Million.” With various lineup changes and a hiatus or two, the band is again touring, and having a blast on stage. Brown (only 12 years old when the band originally formed) continuously smiled throughout the show, talking with the crowd, hamming it up.

The band put on a lively show with minimal stage trappings – just three guys having fun on stage, bringing their songs to life. Brown and Farley moved about freely, with Brown adding some spins and jumps for good measure, while Hans remained perched at the drum kit on an elevated platform at the back of the stage.

Brown playfully pointed out that the band is now a threesome, reminding fans that ZZ Top did pretty well with three musicians. He and Farley shared stories of the band’s past, including a special connection with Cincinnati, where Trixter was playing (at Bogart’s) when they learned when their first song went to #1.

Although lead singer Pete Loran is no longer with the band, Brown and Farley delivered excellent vocals, bringing genuine passion to the songs they have played live for decades.

The overall set was pure, uplifting fun, offering a welcome escape on an otherwise quiet weeknight.

Two local bands opened, The New Machine and Kick-n-$teel – both did a terrific job warming up the crowd.
